Everyday Life

What you notice first

The people in the room, the idea underneath, or the detail that does not add up.

The people

You walk in and read the faces before the slide. A good idea delivered into a sour room is not a good idea yet. You are often right, and you are sometimes early.

Do not skip the slide. The people are the first notice, not the only one.

The idea

You hear the claim under the chatter. Details can wait until the shape is clear. You get impatient with process that does not serve the point.

The risk is a beautiful shape that does not survive contact with the numbers. Ask one detail person what would break it.

The detail

You see the figure that does not add up, the name spelled two ways, the step everyone skipped. Groups need you, and they get tired of you, often in the same week.

Bring the detail with a fix, not only a catch. A catch without a next step sounds like a veto.
