How affection feels real

All the way in, light, side by side, admiring, or close with room. People miss each other when they offer the wrong one.

All the way in

Affection feels real when it is concentrated. A little, spread across the week, can feel like nothing. You want to be chosen in a way that is obvious.

The other person may be showing care in smaller, steady doses and wondering why you cannot see it. Tell them the dose that registers.

Light, or side by side

Light means intensity reads as pressure. You believe the feeling more when it stays easy. Side by side means you believe it when you are doing something together, not when you are staring at the relationship.

A partner who wants a long talk about the two of you is not necessarily colder or warmer. They may be offering the form that feels real to them.

Admiring, or close with room

Admiring means respect and a bit of shine are part of love for you. Close with room means you need the door unlocked. Too much merging feels like a loss, not like safety.

None of these is the grown-up one. The grown-up move is to say which form you can actually feel.
